What’s New in the Microsoft Visio 2019 Update?Ramon Francisco
Microsoft, along with its other products, launched the 2019 update of Visio Standard and Visio Professional in October 2018. The update won’t actually see significant changes so the 2 editions will still run familiar features with only a few major additions.
Before we look into those new functions of the famed software, let first do a bit of an intro to Visio for those who aren’t familiar with it.
What is Microsoft Visio?
Visio could be the world’s most powerful diagramming software designed by Microsoft. It lets you work visually to create diagrams, charts, flowcharts, and a lot more than you can use on your documentation, organization, and presentations.
Visio has remained to be industry-leading with over 12 million users as of 2019.
With the new Visio 2019, you can make all of these files way easier than its previous editions. There are added tools to help you quickly define business processes, document and visualize the future state of transformative initiatives, and stay on top of operational insights in your company.
Microsoft Visio is available in both Office 365 and Office 2019. With Office 365, though, you can share Visio diagrams with everyone and communicate one version of the truth to push organization-wide alignment a lot easier.
Visio supports multiple data sources, including Microsoft Excel workbooks, Microsoft Access databases, Microsoft SharePoint Foundation lists, Microsoft SQL Server databases, Microsoft Exchange Server directories, Azure Active Directory information, and other OLEDB or ODBC data sources.
What Is Microsoft Visio 2019 Used For?
The single biggest use of Microsoft Visio could possible diagramming. Like I already mentioned, this software makes creating organization charts easy. Furthermore, being a part of the MS Office suite, it is compatible with other applications like CAD and Excel, making it easy to draw information into Visio.
If you have certain process models that you need to follow, Visio is the right application to use. Putting them on Word or Excel makes the data hard to interpret. Visio will help you to lay these procedures out clearly, making it easier for your team to follow defined procedures.
Not everyone understands Project Management but if you present items with some sort of a prop like Visio diagrams, the complexity can be eliminated and form of a clearly defined timeline. At a single glance, non-experts will be able to review key events and dates spread across a single bar.
Flexible and Compatible with Other Apps for More Productivity
Visio is a highly adaptable software that can be used in almost any documentation task in your business or organization. It has advanced features that can be accessed via other programs to meet more specialist requirements.
Most people are not familiar yet with these potentials and associated benefits of Microsoft Visio but by training your staff on how to use this software, you’ll be able to streamline your processes cross-laterally, hence achieving higher productivity and effectiveness.
Need to build a floor plan but you don’t have CAD to start with? Visio can be a simpler software you can use.
